The Concrete Consultancy 2000 Ltd were commissioned on the 12th April 2022 to undertake structural investigations of the internal concrete elements of a papermill in Mid Glamorgan, South Wales. The structure surveyed was constructed with the use of a reinforced concrete column and beam frame cast in-situ with reinforced concrete deck slabs cast in-situ. The internal partition walls are formed of of a combination of brickwork and blockwork and externally the walls are a combination of precast panels and brickwork.
The works comprised a ferroscan survey to determine the distribution of the reinforcement, localised breakouts to determine the size, type and condition of the reinforcement and testing of concrete cores extracted to determine the compressive strength of the concrete.
