Materials Testing
Construction techniques have varied vastly through the ages with the requirement for more complex design and durability leading to the development of modern man made materials being the mainstay of all construction. However the production of practical, cost-effective materials to satisfy an ever-increasing need for a durable, safe and yet aesthetically pleasing structure has not been without its failings. The inclusion in construction of materials now known to be harmful to health has led to the development of modern test methods and independent accreditation by government bodies of all modern materials. However the legacy of previous years remains in many structures unnoticed.
